Capitol Reef to Moab

Today was a long drive across some very desolate but beautiful desert. We took highway 24 east and then east on highway 70.

We went to Dead Horse Point where we had some spectacular views of Canyon Lands. It is hard to describe but it is like someone poured acid over the earth and it spread in all directions creating all these deep canyons. Lots of browns and reds and the green of the the river.

From there we continued to Canyon Lands National Parks, "Islands In The Sky". Lots of four wheel drive roads and hiking trails with the same spectacular views.

We finally arrived at about two in the afternoon in what was once was a sleepy little town. It is sad to see this place being over developed and driven by all the tourism.

We new something was going on in town because we had a hard time making reservations. Well we found out it was the 41st Annual Jeep Easter Rally. I have never seen so many Jeeps in one place! I mean thousands of folks in every kind of Jeep ever designed or modified.

We are going out tomorrow on a jet boat for four hours so that should be fun. Then on to Arches and maybe some more of Canyon Land. Well it is getting late so more tomorrow with some pictures I hope.

Zion and Bryce National Park

Well the last two days have been great we had a very uneventful drive from La Habra, CA to Utah's, Zion National Park. We are traveling with our friends Mike and Lori and are going to be staying at Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef, Arches and Canyon Lands National Parks. A lot of miles in seven days! Here are a few photos from Zion.
